Well, it was :icontabris-the-17th: 's Birthday last week so I thought I would draw the two main characters, Hope and Faith, from his webcomic, Alone in a Crowd (which you can read here: www.aiacrowd.com) for him.

Of course, his girls are actually a lot younger than this. But since I can't draw young kids well, and I wanted to experiment with how they would look when they were older then I drew them like this! I wanted to draw a background too, but I didn't have any good ideas and kind of ran out of time so I just snagged a cool pic from this stock website [link] (I love this place!), and altered it a bit and tada! Cheap background! lol

I'm pretty pleased with this pic, other than I think it looks a bit too flat. I always have trouble with that. I need to try out new angles. Anyway, enjoy!



Used Photoshop CS2 for everything. No idea how long it took since I worked on it off and on randomly.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it :) Will you be drawing them older at some point too? I'm curious to see your take on it

Oh yes, there's one point where I DEFINITELY will be. But that wont come for a long, long, LONG time ;)

I'm sure I'll try drawing them that way before then for the fun of it though.

The proportioning came out really well. My only crit is that the bodies feel a little stiff. Keep working on human figures. They do all sorts of cool bendy, twisty things.

I like that rendering style in the background too. Like some sort of threshold effect?

Thanks for the comment and critique! I always have issues with making people appear stiff. *must try harder*

I honestly don't remember what effect I used on the background ^_^; I don't think it was very hard to do, just some filter in PS
